Connection Management
How bit.ctrl connects to cameras, shows status, and recovers from interruptions.
Connection status
Real-time, color-coded indicators show each camera's state:
- Green: connected.
- Orange (pulsing): connecting or reconnecting.
- Red: disconnected or failed.
The connection-status popover (from the tab bar) lists all cameras with live latency.
Connecting
- Auto-connect on launch: configurable per camera in Settings → Cameras.
- Manual connect / disconnect: per camera.
- Reconnect widgets: the Reconnect and Reconnect All widgets force a reconnection from the control surface, even when auto-connect is disabled.
Resilience
- Automatic reconnection with exponential backoff.
- Bandwidth conservation mode for inactive cameras.
- ICMP ping latency measurement.
Latency
The Connection widget and status popover can display latency in milliseconds. See the Connection widget.
